Liquid Oxygen 1L – Hydrogen Peroxide – Growth Technology
It adds extra oxygen to the nutrient solution, stimulates the plant's root system, and helps prevent root diseases.
In stock
Liquid Oxygen contains 11.9% hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂). Hydrogen peroxide is a molecule essential to life itself and plays a role in all metabolic processes in plants and animals. When added to the nutrient reservoir, it quickly breaks down into pure water and releases the extra oxygen atom into the solution, where it can be taken up by the roots in the same way as nutrient ions.
It is strongly recommended that you wear gloves and safety goggles when handling liquid oxygen.
HYDROPONIC SYSTEMS – NORMAL CONDITIONS
Liquid Oxygen can be added regularly to the nutrient supply, even daily. The goal is to provide the roots with extra oxygen and keep the nutrient solution free of pathogens and diseases. If the system is healthy, Liquid Oxygen will help keep it that way.
- Add 5 ml to the tank for every 10 liters of tank volume each day
- If it is not possible to add it that frequently, it can be added two or three times a week at a rate of 1 ml per liter
- Mix well before applying it to the plants
- It is recommended that you mix the required amount of Liquid Oxygen into one liter of warm water before adding it to the tank.
HYDROPONIC SYSTEMS – WITH DISEASE ISSUES
Liquid Oxygen can be useful in treating root diseases, such as Pythium, and in eliminating the conditions under which these problems can arise. Sometimes, these same problems can be caused by simple overwatering—a lack of oxygen at the interface with the roots. In both cases, the treatment is essentially the same. The following procedure will usually resolve the problem, although no guarantee can be offered.
Condition: root disease
Symptoms: brown, limp roots and wilted plants.
- Try to act quickly before the problem gets too serious. If the roots are limp and weak, remove as many dead roots as possible from the root system by hand. Clean the trays and drains as thoroughly as possible.
- Empty the nutrient reservoir and clean it thoroughly.
- Run clean water through the system to help flush out debris, then discard the water.
Start filling the tank with clean water and add Liquid Oxygen at a rate of 2 ml per liter of tank volume. It is recommended that you add the entire amount of Liquid Oxygen at the beginning of the filling process. This creates a highly concentrated solution that helps sterilize the pump and tubing as the reservoir fills. Some growers have reported using Liquid Oxygen at twice this recommended concentration—and even higher—with good results. However, this should only be attempted as a last resort—if it is the only way to save the plants. There is an upper limit—too much Liquid Oxygen will obviously damage the roots.
- Let the water circulate for three days—adding Liquid Oxygen each day in the proportions indicated above.
- Next, empty the tank and clean it again. Prepare a new nutrient solution and add Liquid Oxygen at a rate of 1 ml per liter—then restart the system.
- Add Liquid Oxygen every day throughout the harvest period.
If the problem is resolved, new white roots will appear very quickly. If not, you will need to repeat the treatment.
CLEANING
Liquid Oxygen can be used to clean and sterilize the hydroponic system and growing medium. It is a powerful and highly aggressive liquid that will effectively eliminate pathogens and harmful bacteria. If you’re using a growing medium such as perlite or expanded clay, remove as many old roots as possible. Soak the medium in a concentrated solution of Liquid Oxygen. This will oxidize the organic matter in the medium and promote rapid decomposition. Don’t forget to thoroughly rinse the growing medium with fresh water before reusing it. To sterilize a hydroponic system, add Liquid Oxygen to the reservoir and circulate it through the system to sterilize all pipes, drippers, etc. Again, be sure to thoroughly clean the system with fresh water or wait a few days before adding new plants.
Cleaning solution: Add 100 ml of liquid oxygen to 10 liters of water.
Warning
Liquid Oxygen is highly concentrated.
The active ingredient is a volatile and corrosive chemical.
Use liquid oxygen with extreme caution and handle it with care.
